The Life of Shirley Fournet

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Shirley Fournet, 75, who passed away on November 28, 2009 at 3:15 pm at Meadowbrook Rehab Hospital. Brother Michael Madden will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Fournet, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Guy Savage and the former Lenora Schlessinger. Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother, and was a dedicated member of Jehovah's Witnesses. She also enjoyed raising orchids and bromeliads, and was an animal lover. She is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Fournet of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Martha Fournet Savage of Tampa, FL; two sons, David C. Fournet and wife Andrea of Fayetteville, AR, and Charles H. Fournet and wife Sallie of Lafayette, LA; seven grandchildren, Adele, Bradley, and Allison Fournet; Joshua, Cody, Nicholas, and Brandy Savage; and one sister, Joelle Rupert of Abbeville, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Thomas R. Fournet, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 8:00 am until the time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Charles Fournet, David Fournet, Stephen Fournet, Jacques Fournet, Raymond "Chip" Rupert, Rick Rupert, and Stephan Comeaux. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
