The Life of Louella Blackburn

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at an 11:00 AM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Louella Broussard Blackburn, 83, who passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Ira Robinson, Associate Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church will conduct the funeral services. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Pie Jesu". She is survived by her three daughters, Delores Scagnelli and her husband, Paul of Danbury, CT., Ramona Godwin and her husband, John of Houston, TX. and Debbie Simon and her partner, Nita Piccione of Lafayette, LA.; one son, Francis Dale Moody and his wife, Pam of Poplarville, MS.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Pansy Bodoin and her husband, Dudley of Lafayette, LA.; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one sister.A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Mrs. Blackburn was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She was employed as a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 9:30 AM until time of funeral services.The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Acadiana, Magnolia Estates Nursing Home and especially her special caregivers, Farrah and Mary for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Mrs. Louella during her time of need.
