The Life of Francis Joseph Landry Sr.
Lafayette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Francis Joseph Landry, Sr., 82, will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Louis Richard officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, November 1, 2010 from 11:00AM until 10:00PM with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM by the Judice Knights of Columbus. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8:00AM until service time. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
A native of St. Martinville and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Landry passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at a local healthcare facility. He worked for most of his life as a sugarcane farmer and spent the last thirty years selling fire wood on Pinhook Road.
He is survived by his sons, Steven Landry and wife Rita of Broussard, Carl Landry and wife Janice of Duson and Francis Landry, Jr. and wife Tammy of College Station, TX; his daughter, Marla L. Chapman and husband Joe of Church Point; 14 grandchildren, Felicia Landry, Cory Landry, Nicole Street, Jamie Landry, Ashley Landry, Kevin Landry, Francis Landry III, Jeffrey Landry, Seth Landry, Courtney Kuhn, Brad Mills, Jason Mills, Phillip Mills and Marcus Mills; step-grandchildren, Clark Robinson and Austin Robinson; numerous great-grandchildren; his brother, Fred J. Landry of Lafayette; and two sisters, Gladys Garber and husband Eugene of Broussard and Lula Mae Landry of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Ann Comeaux Landry; his parents, Numa and Marie Romero Landry; two brothers, Claude J. Landry and Wilfred P. Landry; and his companion, Mazie Garber Hebert.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Landry, Jamie Landry, Cory Landry, Seth Landry, Jeffrey Landry and Francis “Joey” Landry III.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Landry’s name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
