The Life of Mary Lou Broussard

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 29, 2010, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Mary Lou Broussard, 78, who passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Camelot of Broussard. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park. Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Wind Beneath My Wings", "Be Not Afraid", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman" and "J'irai la voir un jour" for the services. Survivors include five daughters, Mary Ann Menard and her husband Glenn, Nita Mae Menard and her husband Henry James, Thelma Lou Campbell and her husband Tommy, Linda Marie Coston and her husband Robbie and Celestine Marie Boyer, all of Lafayette; one son, Larry James Broussard, Sr. of Lafayette; seventeen grandchildren, Shane Menard, Shawn Menard, Nicole Richard, Stacy Nguyen, Danielle Campbell, Hollie Estis, Patricia Bellow, Shereé Boyer, Rachelle Boyer, Stephanie Boyer, Larry Broussard Jr., Aaron Broussard, Tiffany Broussard, Benjamin Broussard, Leslie DeValcourt and Wilfred Bouton; twenty-five great grandchildren; one sister, Lucy Trahan of Youngsville; and one brother, Lloyd Bienvenu, Jr. and his wife Deanna of Coteau Holmes. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank B. Broussard; one son, John Patrick Broussard; parents, Lloyd and Lillian Bienvenu; and one daughter-in-law, June Broussard. A native of Broussard and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life, Mrs. Broussard was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking playing boureé and going to the casino. Mrs. Broussard was a loving and caring person who enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She was a faithful member of the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Community. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Shane Menard, Joseph Bellow, Larry Broussard Jr., Aaron Broussard, Terry Richard. and Brent Bellow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robbie Coston, Henry Menard, Tommy Campbell, Lloyd Bienvenu, Jr., Larry James Broussard, Sr. and Glenn Menard. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's Downtown Lafayette location on Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Monday, November 29, 2010 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's Funeral Home. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Camelot of Broussard and Heart of Hospice for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Mrs. Broussard during her time of need.
