The Life of Helen Roberts
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Joseph B. Roberts the former Helen Mason, 89, will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, October 17, 2011 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Fr. Steve LeBlanc officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. A native of Pearl River County, MS and a resident of Lafayette Mrs. Roberts died on Saturday, October 15, 2011. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Joseph B. Roberts of Lafayette; a son, Retired LTC Gregory M. Roberts and his wife Karen of New Iberia; a daughter, Candace E. Roberts, MD and her husband Dan Witschey of Bellaire, TX; four grandchildren, Gregory M. Roberts, II and his fiancé Crissy Frederick, Michael R. Roberts, Alexander R. Witschey, and Catherine E. Witschey; and a sister, Hilda Rowell of Hattiesburg, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Minnie Brister Mason; and four brothers, Connis Mason, L. “Red†Mason, Woodrow Mason, and C.W. Mason. Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory M. Roberts, II, Michael Roberts, Alexander R. Witschey, Trey Rudder, Matt Rudder, and Andy Taylor. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bill Moore and Catherine Witschey. Mrs. Robert''s family would like to extend a special thanks to Camelot of Broussard, Hospice of Acadiana, and DeShon Brooks for their compassionate care. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana at 2600 Johnston St. Lafayette, LA 70503-3240. David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangements.
