The Life of Mitchel J Scimemi

Broussard – Funeral Services for Mr. Mitchel “Mike” J. Scimemi, 75, will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at David Funeral Home Chapel in Lafayette with Fr. Howard Blessing officiating. Visitation will begin on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 3:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM and will resume on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 8:00AM until service time. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. A native of Lake Charles and resident of Broussard, Mr. Scimemi passed away at 4:33AM on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at a local hospital. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the IUOE Local #406 of Lake Charles. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Patricia Brunson Scimemi of Broussard; sons, Timothy Jasper Scimemi of Lafayette, Damon Troy Scimemi and wife Becky of Lafayette, Royce Thane Scimemi and wife Sandy of Oberlin and Terrell Shannon Scimemi and wife Danelle of Lake Charles; step-daughters, Princess Marie Thigpen and Roxanne Barras, both of Broussard and Rebekah Barras of Duson; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Scimemi and Sadie Tremont Scimemi; his son, Michael Wayne Scimemi; and two sisters, Antoinette Babcock and Marie Mondello. Serving as pallbearers will be Donny Wayne Scimemi, Mitchell Eddie Scimemi, Kyle Stelly, Tucker Scimemi, David Spisak and Andrew Williams. Honorary pallbearers will Charles Langlinais, Bill Thigpen, Alex Thigpen, Madison Barras, Ashley Nelson and Matthew Nelson. Contributions may be made in Mr. Scimemi’s name to Hospice of Acadiana or the National Kidney Foundation.
