The Life of Erie Lee Lanier

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Erie Lee Lanier, age 83, the former Erie Lee Parent, who passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Entombment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Mausoleum. Reverend Aaron Melancon, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be her grandchildren. Lectors are Kayla Crouch and Patricia Lanier. Survivors include her husband, Eugene D. "Doc" Lanier of Youngsville; two daughters, Vicci Lanier Guillet and her husband, John, Jr. of Lafayette and Dayle Lanier Guillory of Lafayette; a son, Vance Eugene Lanier and his wife, Elizabeth of Milton; six grandchildren, Jodie E. Crouch, III and his spouse Jasen of Shreveport, Jesse E. Crouch and his wife, Kayla of Milton, Sean E. Lanier of Milton, Jenessa L. Guillory of Lafayette, Micah J. Lanier of Lafayette and Joseph L. Solomon and his wife, Kimberly of Lafayette; two step grandchildren, John S. Guillet III and Michael D. Guillet and his wife, Julie, all of Baton Rouge; three great grandchildren, Jackson D. Crouch, Brooklyn R. Crouch and Kyriana S. Solomon, all of Lafayette; two step great grandchildren, Logan and Emily Guillet of Baton Rouge; one sister, Shirley Kelso of New Orleans and two brothers, Beauregard Jean Parent, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth and Clifford Parent and his wife, Bettye, all of New Orleans, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonie Smith Parent and Beauregard Jean Parent, Sr, both natives of Prairieville, Louisiana and residents of New Orleans for their adult life; a grandson, Phillip Jude Guillory and son-in-law, Terry J. Guillory. A resident of Youngsville, Louisiana for most of her life, Mrs. Lanier was born on October 4, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a faithful member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, where she served on the St. Anne''s Ladies Auxilliary. Mrs. Lanier was a Charter member of Our Lady of Fatima Knights of Columbus Council 3470 Ladies Auxilliary and served as President from 1963 to 1964. She was also a Den Mother for the local Cub Scouts. Pallbearers will be Jodie E. "Bucky" Crouch III, Jesse E. Crouch, Sean E. Lanier, Jenessa L. Guillory, Micah J. Lanier and Joseph S. Solomon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jean Edward Parent, John S. Guillet, Jr., Paul Berteau and Ronnie Veillon. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Mrs. Lanier''s caregiver, Earline Benoit for her loving care and devotion. Also, special thanks to the staff on the sixth floor of Lafayette General Hospital. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM to and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
