The Life of Linda Marie Benoit

Funeral services will be held on August 3, 2011, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Linda Marie Benoit, 58, who died on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at her Lafayette residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her friend in Christ, Reverend Daniel Edwards, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Mary Elizabeth Higgins and James Curtis Jones. Lectors will be Shantel Jones and JoNell Richard. Charlotte Jagneaux, soloist, accompanied by Phyllis Simar, organist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", "Here I Am Lord", "Be Not Afraid" and "J'irai La Voir Un Jour" for the services. A Private Graveside Service will be held in Holy Mary Mother of God Mausoleum at a later date. Linda was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was born on October 9, 1951 and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1969. Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Gabriel James Jones, who died on July 7, 2010 and a step granddaughter, Amber Michelle Higgins. She is survived by her parents, Curtis Clade and Merline Roy Benoit; her sister, JoNell Richard; her brother, Damon Ray Benoit; father of their children, Larry Jones; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Higgins and son-in-law James McKee Higgins of Gonzales; a son, James Curtis Jones and daughter-in-law Shantel Renee Jones of Scott; grandchildren, Gavin Jones, Corey, Delaney and McKenzie Higgins; a great grandchild, Kaylee Higgins; and her dear companion, Calvin Clavelle. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Special thanks to all of Linda's family and friends for their love, support and wonderful care throughout her illness.
