The Life of Stephen Ross Guillory

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Lafayette for Ross Guillory, 20, who passed away on June 17, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, as well as Reverend Floys Callais will be the Celebrant and Con-Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Guillory was born May 3, 1989 in Lafayette, LA, and was the son of Stephen Guillory and the former Ginger Thibodeaux. He attended St. Thomas Moore, Comeaux, and Lafayette High Schools and graduated from Lafayette High School in 2007. Ross was enrolled at Louisiana Technical College-Lafayette where he received his first year Electrical Apprentice Certificate. Ross was an avid sportsman, with a passion for deer hunting and four-wheelers that started when he was very young. He attended elementary school at Our Lady of Fatima where he developed long lasting friendships. At Fatima he played soccer, baseball, and football and continued his football career at St. Thomas Moore High School. His most recent passion was motorcycle riding as he loved the freedom it brought him. In his last days he was visited by numerous friends and relatives: a testament to a fine young man. He loved life and embraced an attitude of love and compassion for those around him and especially enjoyed making everyone around him laugh. He also protected the people in his life that he loved the most, with a special love for baby Kristopher. He will be sadly missed. Ross is survived by his parents, Ginger Thibodeaux Guillory, of Lafayette and Stephen Guillory, of Ville Platte; and his sister, Samantha Lauren Guillory, of Lafayette. In addition, he leaves his maternal grandparents, Waldo and Mary Thibodeaux, also of Lafayette, and his paternal grandparents, William and Verna Guillory, of Ville Platte. Surviving aunts and uncles are Sue and Glenn Thomas, Debbie and Buck Wilkerson, Dr. William Guillory of Lafayette, Keith and Charlotte Thibodeaux of Houston, Texas and June Inhern of Washington, LA. He was preceded in death by his cousins, Allison Nicole Wilkerson and Adam Michael Guillory. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lloyd Hargett, Sean Guidry, Julien Mayard and Beau Sonnier. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
