The Life of Sabray Paul Desormeaux

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Sabray Paul Desormeaux, 77, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at his residence in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Michael Delcambre, Associate Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Gabrielle, Jacob and Noah Deshotels. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, “Be Not Afraid”, “On Eagles’ Wings”, “Amazing Grace”, “Ave Maria” and “Here I Am Lord”.Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years Mildred Huval Desormeaux of Lafayette; five daughters, Sue Hoffpauir and her husband, Billy, Sharon Deshotels and her husband, Teddy, Sherri Desormeaux, Sonia Kellar and her husband, Keith, and Judith Fenton; two sons, Duane Desormeaux and his wife, Nikki and Ronald Desormeaux and his wife, Suzette; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister Nellan Desormeaux; and one brother, Raymond Desormeaux.He was preceded in death by his parents Isaac Desormeaux and Alice Geoffroy Desormeaux; one sister, Treva Broussard; one brother, Emery Desormeaux; one son-in-law, John M. Weeks; and his in-laws, Enold and Lelia Huval.A native of Abbeville, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for over 58 years, Mr. Desormeaux was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He served as past President of the Youngsville Lion’s Club, and was a member of the Acadian Home Builders Association as well as a member of the “Cruisin Cajuns” Motor Home Travel Club, the Doyce Lagneaux Camper’s Club and the St. Pius X Catholic Church Community. Mr. Desormeaux enjoyed playing bourré, gardening and fishing on his boat “T-Boy”. He loved building houses and was employed as a contractor for over 40 years until his retirement. Mr. Desormeaux enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.Pallbearers will be Billy Hoffpauir, Teddy Deshotels, Keith Kellar, Matthew Desormeaux, Justin Desormeaux, Ross Desormeaux and Christopher Fenton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alexander Kellar, Clarence Huval, Douglas Huval, Raymond Desormeaux and Ryan Desormeaux.A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of services.The family would like to give special thanks to Sherry Comb for being a friend, caregiver and always showing kindness, comfort and gentle care to Mr. Desormeaux and his family during their time of need.Martin & Castille - Lafayette, 337-234-2311
