The Life of Dariel Janice Mosing

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Lafayette for Dariel Janice Mosing, 79, who passed away peacefully at Lafayette General Medical Center on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 surrounded by family and friends.

Reverend Perry Sanders and Reverend Steve Horn, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lafayette will conduct the funeral services.
Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mrs. Mosing, born in Beaumont, Texas and lifelong resident of Lafayette was the daughter of the late Joseph Vasco Parker of Alexandria and the former Sybil Stanton of Beaumont, Texas. Mrs. Mosing was a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Donald E. Mosing of Lafayette; one daughter, Melanie Christine Mosing of Lafayette; three sons, Donald "Keith" Mosing and his wife, Alice of Houston, Texas, Gregory "Greg" Mosing and his wife, Donna of Lafayette and William "Brad" Bradford Mosing and his wife, Leah of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Derek Veverica of Casper, Wyoming, Beau Mosing of Stavanger, Norway, Ashley Mosing of Houston, Texas, Lindsay Hebert, Christine Veverica, Jaclyn Mosing and Rachelle Mosing of Lafayette; one sister, Jo Baker and her husband, John of Austin, Texas; and one brother, Marc Stacer and his wife, Maggie of Cove, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The Mosing family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette and will resume on Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 9:00 am until service time at First Baptist Church of Lafayette.

Janice was a continual ray of sunlight that drew everyone to her positive and enthusiastic attitude toward life. Everyone who came to know Janice would form a friendship for life. Throughout the years, Janice unselfishly supported her husband, children, grandchildren, and her family without hesitation. Janice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Mosing was truly committed to the Lafayette community and was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Lafayette. Visiting the family ranch in Sabinal, Texas was one of her favorite pastimes. She was the Steel Magnolia that held the Mosing family strong. Janice and her husband graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1946. They were high school sweethearts where Janice served as President and husband Donald served as Vice President of the senior class. Janice went on to Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans and Donald went on to graduate from the University of Louisiana Lafayette formerly Southwestern Louisiana Institute, Class of 1950. On December 22nd they would have been married sixty years.

Pallbearers will be Keith Mosing, Greg Mosing, Brad Mosing, Derek Veverica, Beau Mosing and Tony Hebert. Honorary pallbearers will be Eli Prejean, Dwayne Arceneaux, Voorhies Short, Stew Romero, Mark Veverica and Murphy "Pee Wee" Narcisse.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the compassionate care of her caregivers, First Baptist Church of Lafayette, and the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of Lafayette General Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Lafayette, 1100 Lee Avenue, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501 or to the charity of your choice.
