The Life of Florence Guilbeau
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at a 1:00 PM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Florence Bernard Guilbeau, 88, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Maison de Lafayette in Lafayette Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Justino H. Estoque, Jr., Associate Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will officiate the services. Lectors will be Van J. Erikson and Richard P. Guilbeau. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace", and "On Eagles'' Wings". Survivors include one daughter, Yvette M. Guilbeau; one son, Richard P. "Rick" Guilbeau and his wife, Avelyn; one grandson, Vanner J. Erikson; one sister, Ann Mashaw and her husband, Herb; and two brothers, Roy Bernard and Russell Bernard and his wife, Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonce Bernard and Ella LeBlanc Bernard; her beloved husband of 60 years, James Guilbeau; three brothers, L.C. Bernard, Howard Bernard and Elmo Bernard; and five sisters, Joyce B. Carpenter, Odette B. Harrison, Thelma B. Comeaux, Inez Bernard and Lula Mae Bernard. Florence was born on March 15, 1920 in Bayou Tigre, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. Mrs. Guilbeau was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and was a faithful member of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and well as the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Mrs. Guilbeau enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Russell Bernard, Roy Bernard, Richard P. Guilbeau, Van Erikson, Terry Bernard and Alan Carpenter. A Rosary will be prayed by Reverend Justino Estoque, Jr. on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette. The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Martin & Castille - Lafayette, 337-234-2311.
