The Life of Bernard W Crocker

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette for Bernard W. Crocker, 89, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.Reverend Fred Frasier will officiate the Graveside services.Bernard W. Crocker served in the United States Air Force working for Armed Forces Radio in the Panama Canal Zone. There he met and married his first wife, Sally Kimball, who preceded him in death. When his Air Force service ended, he attended and graduated from Whittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio. Upon graduation, he became a Lutheran Pastor on Kentucky. He later received his Master''s Degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.In the early 1960''s he joined the USL (now ULL) speech faculty. In addition to his speech department teaching, Mr. Crocker worked in the Burke Hall Radio/TV area. He became head of the Television area when those facilities were moved to the new V.L. Wharton Hall on campus.In 1991 his book, The Angel Factory, was published by Authors Unlimited Los Angeles, California. This work was dedicated to his second wife, Lorraine Shoemake.He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Shoemake Crocker.He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Crocker and Mary Josephine Newman Crocker; and his first wife, Sally Kimball.
