The Life of Wilton Meyers

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Wilton Meyers, age 86, who passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 8:28 AM, at his residence in Scott.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Gilbert J. Dutel, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Giftbearers will be Gwendolyn Bryant, Tammy Robin and Sara Hawayek.  Lectors are Leah Rivers and Jamie Madden.Survivors include his wife of sixty seven years, Elite S. Meyers; one son, Joseph Dallas Meyers, Sr. and his wife, Brenda; two daughters, Therese "Tina" Glorian Stoute and her husband, Ralph Stoute and Rosa M. Castille and her husband, Lynn P. Castille; his grandchildren, Tammy, Tony, Troy, Leah  Joey, Gwen, Jamie, Jason, Greg, Wade, Corey and Sara; twenty eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Gladys Thibodeaux and Lula Breaux and four brothers, Milton Meyers, Norris Meyers, Lanis Meyers and Dalfred Meyers.He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Edna Sonnier Meyers; four sisters, Claudia Theriot, Esther Verret, Beula Thibodeaux and Lee Winslow and one brother, Carroll Meyers.Mr. Meyers was a resident of Scott for sixty one years and was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott.  He was a veteran of military service, having served in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Southern Pacific Railroad for twenty five years.  He was a very caring and loving person and was always willing to help everyone. Mr. Meyers was an avid hunter and fisherman. A Rosary will be prayed Monday at 7:00 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM and Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.Pallbearers will be Troy David Meyers, Joseph Dallas Meyers Jr., Gregory S. Ashley, Christopher "Wade" Ashley, Corey J. Ashley and Jason D. Stoute.  Honorary pallbearers are Tony Meyers, Joseph Dallas Meyers, Sr., Lynn P.
