The Life of Frances Oubre

Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Frances Gautreaux Oubre, 91, who passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes.

Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services.

Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette.

Frances, the daughter of the late Wilson Gautreaux and the former Marcelene Babin, both of Houma, LA was born and spent her childhood years in Houma, LA and was a resident of Scott for the past 27 years. She graduated from Leon Godchaux High School in Reserve, LA. Frances was a Blue Print Expediter in a New Orleans ship yard during WWII. She was an adult education teacher as well as an English teacher to French speaking people who were working toward U.S. Citizenship. She was a member of Catholic Daughter''s for 65 years and a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic church in Scott and a past member of St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Survivors include her two daughters, Lydia Kelehan of Scott and Cynthia ''Cindy'' Trahan and husband, Warren of Dickinson, TX; fifteen grandchildren; twenty nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ruffin B. Oubre, son, Samuel Bruce Oubre, daughter-in-law, Helen Oubre and sister, Mameo Comeaux.

Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Oubre''s grandsons, Derek Kelehan, Troy Kelehan, Kevin Kelehan, Donald Kelehan, Shane Kelehan, Shaun Kelehan, David Oubre, Carl Oubre, Beau Trahan, Blaise Trahan and Brody Trahan.

Visiting hours were observed on Friday from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home of Scott.

A rosary was recited at 7:00 pm Friday by the Catholic Daughters of Scott.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Acadiana, the nurses and staff of Magnolia Estates Nursing Home, and the third floor East nursing staff of Our Lady of Lourdes, and Dr. Geoffrey Mire for the warm and loving care of their mother.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 705 Marie Street, Scott is in charge of funeral arrangements.
