The Life of Dallas Breaux

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 29, 2009 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Mr. Dallas Breaux, age 101, who passed away at 12:45 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at his daughter’s residence in Lafayette.Interment will be in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette.Reverend Timothy Richard, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Service. Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the service, “Here I Am Lord”, “Be Not Afraid”, “On Eagles Wings”, “You Are Near” and “J’irai la voir un jour”. Giftbearers are his four granddaughters, Peggy Smith, Darlene Ward, Christine Matt and Monica Huval. Lectors will be Michael Fontenot and Blane Granstaff.Survivors include one daughter, Iris Matt and her husband, Joseph C. (JC) of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Peggy Smith and her companion, Benny Lemaire, Darlene Ward and her husband Paul, Christine Matt and her fiance’, Michael Fontenot, Monica Huval and her husband, Fred; five great grandchildren, Blane Granstaff, Lindsey Raggio, Cody Smith, Ethan Smith and Jaydon Huval. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Maydel D. Breaux; his parents, Joseph Numa Breaux and the former Anna Broussard, both natives of Scott and his brothers, Voorhies Breaux and his wife, Ament, Ophe Breaux and his wife, Cecile, Bruce Breaux and his wife, Lucille, Master (Mac) Breaux and his wife, Lillian, Dupre Breaux and his wife, Sarah Louise “SL”, Ralph Breaux and his wife, Millard, Lannis Breaux and his wife, Laurence, Cuscade Breaux, Noah Breaux and Jean Konat Breaux.Mr. Breaux was born on March 25, 1908 in Scott, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Breaux was a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church. He loved his family and enjoyed eating out with friends and loved to play Bingo.A Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 7:00 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 11:00 AM until9:00 PM and Friday, May 29, 2009 from 8:00 AM until time of the Funeral Mass.Pallbearers will be Blane Granstaff, Paul Ward, Fred Huval, Michael Fontenot, Wallace Breaux and Phillip Breaux.The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Kemp Coreil, the RN’s, Sherry and Emily; also to Concepts of Care Home Health, to Sara Ceaser, Hospice Compassus and to Kim Chiasson.
