The Life of Romain Theo Laborde

Funeral services will be held at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at St. Pius X Catholic Church for Romain Theo Laborde, 80, who passed away Thursday, October 18, 2007 at his residence.

Reverend Steve Leblanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. He will be assisted by Reverend Monsignor Harry Benefiel.

Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Laborde, a native of Marksville and resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Romain Clarence Laborde of Marksville and the former Grace Wagner of Alexandria. He was a veteran with the United States Army having served in World War II. He earned the rank of an E-4. He received an Army Occupation Medal and a WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of the Fatima KC''s and a 4th degree Knight. He was co-owner of Barry Concrete. He worked with them for 42 years. Romain loved working in the yard and loved walking his dogs. He was an avid fisherman and loved the beach. He loved his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Daisie G. Laborde of Lafayette; one daughter, Karen Laborde Johnson and husband, Michael Richard of Lafayette; three sons, William John Laborde and wife, Maria of Opelousas, Glenn Michael Laborde and wife, Pauline of Alvin, Texas, and Steven James Laborde and wife, Susan of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, Shannon Rene Ward and husband, Jayme, Anya Sevin Lopez and husband, Brandon, Aaron Michael, Nicholas Jacob, Olivia Michelle, Sarah Elizabeth, Joshua Landon, Caroline Camille, and Lindsey Renee Johnson; one sister, Martha of Madill, Oklahoma; and one brother, Bernard Laborde of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Emiline L. Woodworth.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Friday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue Saturday from 8:00 am until time of service.

A rosary will be recited Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Michael Laborde, Nicholas Jacob Laborde, Joshua Laborde, Brandon Lopez, Dwain Martin, and Chris Woodworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Johnson, Richard Woodworth, and Rick Johnson.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, will be in charge of the arrangements.
