The Life of Tommy Hugh Allen

Lafayette-Funeral Services will be held at David Funeral Home Chapel for Tommy Hugh Allen, 79, who died peacefully at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at his home in Broussard. Visiting hours will be observed from Friday, January 19, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will resume Saturday, January 20, 8 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Services will be conducted by Reverend Wallace Millsaps and Reverend L.C. Lord. Musical selections will be preformed by Randy Hoffpauir. Mr. Allen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Broussard and devoted his time to numerous organizations over the years. Interment will take place at a later date. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years Patricia Ann Brice Allen, of Broussard; his three sons, Tommy R. Allen and his wife, Gaynell, William “Bill” Allen and his wife, Melody Anne, and Bobby Don Allen; and one daughter Judith Ann Allen, all of Lafayette; 8 grandchildren, Kendall R. Allen, Kyle M. Allen, Kreig M. Allen, Lauren E. Allen, Stacey R. Allen, Billy Ray Allen, Jordan A. Allen, and MaLann Allen; 10 great grandchildren, Ricky Allen, Ryan Allen, Ross Allen, Jenna Allen, Joel Allen, Kody Allen, Kole Allen, Ashley Allen, Amanda Allen and Kami Allen all of the Lafayette/Broussard/Youngsville area. He is also survived by one brother, Hershal Allen and two sisters, Joyce Clark and Ruby Mae Jetton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his great- granddaughter Julia Marie Allen Mr. Allen will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Having spent his entire life in oilfield sales, he saw to it that his sons and grandsons also became established in the oilfield industry. His greatest attribute in life was that he was a man of strong character and great integrity. He was a leader, a motivator and an inspiration to all who knew him. His love for others was always unconditional, which was perhaps his greatest gift of all. “We admired him, tried to emulate him and will forever miss him…He was our HERO.” The Allen family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Broussard Fire Department, City Police Department and Acadian Ambulance for their genuine care and compassion. Pallbeareras will be Tommy Ray Allen, William Hugh Allen, Bobby Don Allen, Kendall Ray Allen, Kyle Mark Allen, Krieg Matthew Allen and Billy Ray Allen.
