The Life of Bernard C. Thibeaux Sr.

Funeral services will be held at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial Friday, January19, 2007, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for Bernard C. Thibeaux, Sr., 84 who died peacefully at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. Visiting hours will be observed from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday and from 9:00 AM Friday until time of the services and the rosary of Our Lady will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday by the Reverend Monsignor Glen J. Provost at Martin and Castille Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette. The Reverend Peter S. Rogers, S.J., will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services, con-celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Glen J. Provost, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Reverend Monsignor Harry Benefiel and Reverend Warren Broussard, SJ. Readers for the celebration of the Eucharist will be Angela B. Thibeaux, Nanette D. Thibeaux, and Ruth Ann J. Thibeaux. Giftbearers will be Rose Fortier and Sr. M. Celeste Thibeaux, RSM. Mrs. Jodi Bollich, accompanied on the organ by Jason Pennington, will sing for the Funeral Mass "Holy, Holy, Holy", "Ave Maria", "Come Holy Ghost" and "How Great Thou Art". Mr. Thibeaux, affectionately known as "TiBen", son of the late Simeon Thibeaux and the former Elmina Gravel, was born and reared in Jeanerette. He was married to the former Mary Margaret Rogers. Ben was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and charter member and member of the board of directors of Oakbourne Country Club. Ben was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His proudest accomplishment as an avid golfer was his six holes-in-one. Ben also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and hunting (he was an expert bird shooter). Ben will always be remembered for his strong will, candid honesty and optimism. A graduate of St. Joseph High School in Jeanerette and SLI, Ben was the founder, Chairman of the Board and President of Marnel Pharmaceutical, Inc., and he also founded Medical Management Systems.Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Mary Margaret Rogers Thibeaux of Lafayette; three daughters: Juliet McKay of Lafayette, Ginger Doucet and her husband Dale of Milton, and Renee Bernard and her husband Charles of Lafayette; three sons: Bernard C. Thibeaux, Jr. and his wife Angela of Lafayette, David Thibeaux and his wife Nanette of Lafayette, and Roger Thibeaux and his wife Ruth Ann of Milton; 19 grandchildren: Kevin, Meghan and Beau McKay; Dailey and Bernard C. Thibeaux III; Marguerite Blanchard and her husband John; Marc and August Doucet; Mollie and Madeleine Thibeaux; Sarah, Camille, Robert and Patrick Bernard; Zack Falgout, Kirby, Teddy, Genevieve and Emmaline Thibeaux; two sisters: Rose and her husband Karl Fortier of Jeanerette; Sr. M. Celeste Thibeaux, R.S.M., of Metairie; and brother, Paul Thibeaux and his wife May of Jeanerette; sisters-in-law Anna Thibeaux of Lafayette and Lydia Thibeaux of Alexandria and brother-in-law Louis Olivier of Gretna. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Marguerite Ellen "Totsie" Thibeaux; by his sisters Sr. Madeleine Thibeaux, R.S.M., Celeste Thibeaux, and Marcelle Olivier; by his brothers Louis, Jerome, Camille, and Simeon Thibeaux, and adopted cousin Louis Leblanc. Pallbearers will be his sons Roger, David and Bernard C. Thibeaux, Jr., his brother Paul Thibeaux, Dale Doucet and Charles A. Bernard, III, DDS. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews: Steve, John and Mike Thibeaux; and friends Glynn Abel, Johnnie Johnson, Beryl Shipley, Howard Burch, MD, James Kreamer, John Bernard, W.A Bernard, MD, Donald N. Ballbach, Mark Dubus and H.P. Chastant, MD. Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Bernard C. Thibeaux, Sr. to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503 or to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
