The Life of Marguerite Primeaux

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Marguerite Walker Primeaux, 96, who passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008.

Reverend John T. Wamsley, Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, will conduct the funeral services.

Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Primeaux, was born on August 8, 1912 to Kathryn Andrus and Ruffin Walker in Opelousas, Louisiana. She was raised in Commerce, Texas and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1930. Marguerite was married to Percy M. Primeaux on the twenty-fifth of December, 1932. She worked as the Chief Deputy of Lafayette Parish Clerk''s Office from which she retired in April 1968 after seventeen years of service. She has been a member of Business and Professional Women for thirty-five years and has served as chairperson of every committee. Marguerite has served on the Women of the Church Council for more than six years in various offices and capacities. Marguerite has been general chairman of the M.A.S.H. group. She was also a volunteer at St. Joseph''s Diner.

In the words of her daughter, Gail: '' If you ever need help or something done, call Marguerite. Mother is a kind and loving person, deeply loved by her family. She is my best friend and ''confidante'' and I know I can always turn to her, whatever the need.

Marguerite has been a valuable asset to Grace Church and Presbyterian Women and we owe her a great deal of love and gratitude.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Primeaux Bedore and her husband, Jim of Lafayette; her son, Richard ''Dick'' Primeaux and his wife, Ruby of Pineville; grandchildren, Richard Mark Primeaux, II of Pineville, Mike Primeaux and his wife, Elizabeth of Nashville, TN, Pam Primeaux of Pineville, Paul Primeaux and wife Donna of Keller, TX, Steve Primeaux of Pineville, Linda Primeaux of Pineville, and Tim Bedore of Spring, TX; and nineteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Percy Primeaux, her parents, two sisters, Kathryne Malsch and Helen McCann and her grandson Jimmy Bedore.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and continue Monday from 10:00 am to time of service at 1:00 pm

Pallbearers will be Mark Primeaux, Mike Primeaux, Paul Primeaux, Steve Primeaux, Tim Bedore and Jay Ruffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Primeaux, Garrett Lucius, Caden Primeaux, Ryan Primeaux and Stephen Primeaux

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in the name of Marguerite Primeaux to St. Joseph Hospice 1003 South Hugh Wallis Road, Lafayette, LA 70508.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
