The Life of Clovernice Lavergne

Lafayette- Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 11 AM at David Funeral Home in Lafayette for Clovernice “Black” Lavergne, 82. He was born in Lafayette on Friday, August 15, 1924 and went to be with the Lord at his residence in Milton on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 9:20 pm. He was a man that can be characterized as a person that was dedicated and passionate about his family, his military service, and his love of fishing. The Rev. Bill Gearhard will conduct the funeral mass on Tuesday, with burial to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Racca Lavergne of Milton; three sons, Donald Lavergne of Duson, Kenneth Lavergne of Milton, and Rodney Lavergne of Broussard; seven daughters, Patricia McNamara of Leroy, Barbara Trahan of Angleton, TX, Phyllis Lavergne of Jacksonville, FL, Julia Lavergne of Milton, Lona Faye Lavergne of Broussard, Melissa Lavergne of Milton, and Theresa Richard of Iota. He is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren who were the "the JOY of his life." He is preceded in death by his father, Hypolitte Lavergne, his mother, Julia Roy Lavergne, a son, Glenn Lavergne, three brothers and two sisters. Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Lavergne, Kenneth Lavergne, Donald Lavergne, Scottie Benoit, John Trahan, Johnny Lavergne, and Quentin Lavergne. The family requests that visitation be observed Monday, September 4, 2006 from 3 PM till 10 PM and continue Tuesday from 9 AM till time of service. A rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 7:30 PM.
