The Life of Geraldine Guidry
Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church for Geraldine Roy Guidry, 69, who passed away at home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Reverend Harold Trahan, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services.
Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Geraldine, the daughter of the late Claude Roy and the former Carrie Brasseaux, both of Lafayette Parish, was a longtime resident of Lafayette. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She volunteered in many civic and religious organizations in the surrounding community.
She is survived by her husband, Charles ''Buddy'' Guidry of Lafayette; one daughter, Karen Guidry Deskin and husband, Brian of Houston, TX; three sons, Chuck Guidry and wife, Kris of Baton Rouge, LA, James Guidry and wife, Phyllis of Lake Charles, LA, and Bryon Guidry of Lafayette, LA; five grandchildren, Grant Guidry, Stephan Guidry, Christina Guidry, Emily Deskin, and Ashley Deskin; two step-granddaughters, Danielle Dauphinet, and Katy Miller,; one sister, Carolyn Allemond of Indian Bayou, LA; and two brothers, Ronald Roy of Church Point, LA, and Russell Roy of Ridge, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Carrie Brasseaux Roy.
The family requests visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the Delhomme Bertrand Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Geraldine Roy Guidry to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
