The Life of Bernette Germaine Barrilleaux
Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Bernette (Bernie) Germaine Barrilleaux (age 85). Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27 at Delhomme Funeral Home, with a rosary beginning at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service. Officiating will be Father Harold Trahan, Pastor of St. Mary Church. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery with an Air Force Ceremony being held at the grave site.
A native of Jeanerette, Mr. Barrilleaux died on Tuesday, May 26th at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family as a testament of those who loved him and his sense of humor.
Mr. Barrilleaux graduated from Franklin High School in 1940, attended Spencer Business School, then served as a tail gunner in World War ll from 1942 to 1945, being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross as a Staff Sergeant. After returning, he graduated from LSU with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nella P. Barrilleaux of 59 years, his five children; Joelyn Credeur (Jimmy), Bernie Barrilleaux (Roxanne), Barry Barrilleaux (MaryAnne), Janell Barrilleaux, and Boyd Barrilleaux (Terry), and his ten grandchildren; Lani Credeur Pillarella (Micheal), Jamie Credeur; Danielle, Adam (Laura), and Brittany Barrilleaux; Bernie and Kendal Bergman; Austin and Garrison Barrilleaux; Alice and Laurie Barrilleaux; and one great-grandchild; Josh Barrilleaux.
B.G. Barrilleaux enjoyed spending his time gardening, cooking, hunting, fishing, spending time with his beloved grand-dogs (Marty, Joey, Gizmo, and Texas), and tending to his beloved wife, children and grandchildren.
