The Life of Basil Ralph Green

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 5, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Reverend Basil Ralph Green, 92, who passed away on October 2, 2009 at 2:57 AM at his residence.

Reverend Douglas Fulenwider, Louisiana District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God will conduct the funeral services and will be assisted by Reverend Bob Zannini, Pastor, of Life Church.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Green, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Samuel Clyde Green and the former Bessie Miller. Reverend Green served in the United States Army during World War II. He served as Pastor of Lake Arthur Assembly of God Church, and served as an Associate Pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Lafayette. Reverend Green made many mission trips building and repairing churches throughout Africa and Mexico.

He is survived by six daughters, Phyllis Fay Green of Modesto, CA; Myrna Wyckoff and husband John of Waxahachie, TX; Sonya Montgomery and husband Stan of Lafayette, LA; Janet Oliver of Hornbeck, LA; Ramona Griffis and husband John, Sr. of Pigeon Forge, TN; and Nelda Blodgett and husband Mark of Maryville, TN; one son, David Green of Spring, TX; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Green of Escondido, CA, and Stanley "Bud" Green of Norman, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rema Joyce Green; his second wife, Juanita Green; great grandchild, Tyler Rodgers; and two sisters, Alice Warden and Eva Cosper.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Reverend John Wyckoff, Stan Montgomery, John Griffis, Sr., Mark Blodgett, Matthew Oliver, John Griffis, Jr., Daniel Green, Austin Blodgett.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
