The Life of Roland James Benoit

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Roland J. Benoit, 76, who passed away after an extended illness at 8:00 AM, on Sunday, January 7, 2007 in Courtyard Manor Infirmary. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Mark Melancon, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services.He leaves to mourn his loving and dedicated wife of fifty five years, Lou Helen Guilbeau Benoit of Lafayette; two sons, whom he adored, Benny James Benoit and his wife, Sheila Vidrine Benoit and Mike Anthony Benoit and his wife, Cyndi Romero Benoit, all of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Jake Benoit and his wife, Corrie C. Benoit, April Benoit, Mitzi Benoit Dorman and her husband, Heath Dorman and Brett Benoit, all of Lafayette; one great granddaughter, born on January 5, 2007, Jaycie Elizabeth Benoit; one brother, Harold J. Benoit and his wife, Helen; one half brother, Errol C. Benoit and his wife, Marie; a half sister, Gale Benoit Miller, all of Lafayette; nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring friends. His family truly loved him and he will be sadly missed.He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Benoit and the former Lily Reaux; an infant grandson, Scott Joseph Benoit; his grandparents, Elia Reaux and Elvege LeBlanc and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adonis and Gloria Moss Guilbeau. Mr. Benoit was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana He was a veteran of military service, having served honorably in the United States Air Force. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Benoit was employed for many years with the Daily Advertiser Newspaper as a Printer Specialist and had also previously worked for Tribune Printing Company. He was an avid sports fan and truly enjoyed watching baseball, football and golf with his wife, sons and family. A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 6:00 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday 8:00 AM until time of the Funeral Mass.Pallbearers will be Benny Benoit, Mike Benoit, Jake Benoit, Brett Benoit, Ronald Cormier and Errol Benoit. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Benoit, Mark Landry and Wade Babineaux. Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette has been chosen to help with the arrangements. 337-234-2311.
