The Life of Glen Mark Richard

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette for Glen Mark Richard, 45, who passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2009, in Toledo Bend. Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery. The Rev. Curtis Mallet, JCL, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Gift bearers will be Sally Todd Sobba, Mandy Todd and Scooter Todd. Lectors will be Melissa Stevens and Monique Simpson. Eulogist will be Dr. Leon LaHaye. Andrea Vidrine will sing for the services.Survivors include his beloved wife of 23 years, Deborah Henderson Richard; a daughter, Hayley Elizabeth Richard; son, Aaron Blake Richard; mother, Shirley Landry Richard; two sisters, Melissa Richard Stevens and her husband Rudy Paul and Monique Richard Simpson and her husband Brent; two nieces, Emily Stevens and Madeleine Simpson; two nephews, Evan Stevens and Eric Simpson; grandmother, Ethia Savoie Richard; father-in-law, Seggie Henderson; and mother-in-law, Wanda Niehaus Henderson.He is preceded in death by his father, Willard John Richard; and grandparents, Alphin Richard, Essie and Pearl Guilbeau Landry.A native of Church Point and a resident of Lafayette for most of his life, Glen was a successful real estate entrepreneur. He began his career with Property One Real Estate in 1987 as an agent. In 2001, Glen went on his own and opened Champion Real Estate Services. He was also the owner of Champion Machines which he founded in May 2005. He was a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), and the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. He was a 1985 graduate of USL with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He has been a loyal supporter ever since, having been a UL Alumni member and a sponsor of the UL baseball team. Glen was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time at his lake house on Toledo Bend Lake and was the owner of Bayou La Rompe Hunting Club in the Atchafalaya Basin. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Pallbearers will be Isaac Thomas, Mike Matherne, Kurt Smith, Forest Bearb, Greg Guillot, Robert Landry, Dwayne Smith and Jim Ziler. A rosary will be prayed on Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. at Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests visitation on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Martin & Castille-Lafayette, 234-2311
