The Life of John E Hudson

Funeral Services will be held at an 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Holy Cross Church for John E. "Jack" Hudson, 83, who passed away on October 24, 2010 at 4:33 pm at his residence.

Reverend Floyd J. Calais will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Hudson, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late John Emmett Hudson of Ponchatoula, Louisiana and the former Helen Abels of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He was a loving husband and father and a devout Catholic. Originally from Ponchatoula, LA, he moved to Covington as a young boy where he studied to be a priest until he met his wife Mattie. In 1962, he moved to Lafayette, LA to manage Lee Beauty Supply, Inc. and later became an agent for the Knights of Columbus until his retirement. Jack was an assistant leader of the Boy Scouts of America and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an usher, alter server and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette and a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Mattie Lee Broussard Hudson; six children, Pam Weaver and husband, Lee of Carencro, Johnny Hudson and wife, Kim of Andalusia, AL, Elaine Richard and husband, Jim of Carencro, Lee F. Hudson of Gulf Breeze, FL, Bridgette Kraus and husband, Malcom of Lafayette, and Suzanne Hebert and husband, Paul of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Fox, Katherine Weaver, Christopher Hudson and wife Ladonna, Jimmy and Barret Richard, Charmayne Peacock, Olivia and Caroline Kraus and Jillian, Georgia, and Jack Hebert; 5 great grandchildren, Taylor and Ethan Peacock and Desire'', CJ and Justin Hudson; sister-in-law, Joy Lowe and husband, Joe and sister-in-law, Lynn Broussard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Emmett and Helen Abels Hudson, his grandson Justin Emmett Weaver and his brother-in-law, Bruce Broussard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Thursday from 10:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
