The Life of Jack William Lavigne Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Jack Willliam Lavigne, Jr., 78, who passed away on Monday, July 30, 2007 peacefully at his residence. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Gilbert Puissegur and Bob Becker. Lectors will be Pat Ardoin and Raymond Goodrich. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing "The Lord's Prayer", "On Eagle's Wings", "Amazing Grace" and "Here I Am Lord" for the services. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Joan Puissegur Lavigne; two daughters, Linda McNeal and her husband Terrell and Camille Lavigne and her friend Donna Fontenot; one son, David Lavigne and his wife, Debbie; three grandchildren, Michelle Sonnier and her husband Matt, Melissa McNeal and Zachary McNeal; one great granddaughter, Gabrielle; and his dog, Beau.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack William Lavigne, Sr. and Helen Jones Lavigne.A native of Shreveport, Louisiana and a resident of Lafayette for most of his life, Mr. Lavigne was a past President of Rotary and Beaver Club, President of the Better Business Bureau and a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.Pallbearers will be Pat Ardoin, Raymond Goodrich, Terrell McNeal, Zachary McNeal, Mark Becker, Robert Lecky, Jr., MD, Bob Bacon and Carroll Crouchet.Honorary Pallbearers will be Matt Sonnier, Gilbert Puissegur, Bob Becker, Michael Becker, MD, Leo Broussard, Members of the Lafayette Beaver Club and the "Money Counters" of Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church.The family would like to thank the Staff of Regional Home Health Care, the Staff at Lafayette General Medical Center and Mr. Lavigne's many caring Physicians.A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of services at Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
