The Life of Filton J Guidry

Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM Monday, September 18, 2006 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Filton Joseph Guidry, 82, who passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 at his residence. Reverend John De Leeuw will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Guidry, a native of Church Point, was the son of the late Leo Guidry and the former Lovella Thibodeaux both of Church Point. He was retired from Riviana Foods. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was stationed in New Guinea. Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Norma Domingue Guidry of Lafayette; his daughters, Diane G. Smith and her husband, Gerald of Church Point and Cynthia G. Vincent and her husband, Ted of Broussard; his son, William Guidry and his wife, Beverly of Breaux Bridge; his daughter-in-law, Mynan Guidry of Baton Rouge; his grandchildren, Chad Guidry and his wife Sadie of St. Amant, James Guidry of Baton Rouge, David Smith and his wife, Alissa of Church Point, Edward Smith and his wife, Kimberly of Carencro, Stephanie Hargroder and her husband, Shane of Port Barre, Allison Decou and her husband, Brannon of Broussard, Sean Vincent of Broussard, Christopher Guidry of Houston, Texas and Ashlee Guidry of Breaux Bridge; his great grandchildren, Caleb Guidry, Meredith Smith, Konnor Smith, Kaylen Smith, Macyn Bertrand, Alana Decou and Britney Decou; his step grandchildren, Phyl Bullock, Andrea deBoisblanc and Lauren Veronie; and his step great grandchildren, Jackson Hargroder, Jesse Bourque, J.C. Bullock and Johnathan Bullock. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Berlin “Jay” Guidry; his brothers, Lloyd Guidry, Francis Guidry, Gerald Guidry and Leonce Guidry; and his sisters, Enola Faul, Geraldine Pope, Hilda Boudreaux and Alice Doucet. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM and continue Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home by Gueric Hebert. Pallbearers will include Chad Guidry, James Guidry, David Smith, Edward Smith, Sean Vincent and Christopher Guidry.
