The Life of Bonnie Belle Henderson

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Lafayette  for Bonnie Belle Randolph Henderson, age 93, who died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 9:15 AM at Lafayette General Medical Center.      Interment will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.     Dr. Steve Horn, Pastor, First Baptist Church of Lafayette, will officiate.  Ramona Carmichael, accompanied on the organ by Nell Lokey, will sing for the services, "How Great Thou Art", "Lord I''m Coming Home", "In The Garden",  "Trust and Obey" and "When I Get Where I''m Going".     Survivors include one daughter, Janice Beth Henderson of Carrollton, TX; two grandchildren, Bonnie Jean Hunt Fox and husband, James Fox of Delaware and Clayton Joachim Voorhies and his wife, Peggy H., of Lafayette; four great grandchildren, Jakki and Clay Voorhies, Christien M. Hunt  and Spencer Overton Fox Hunt; four nieces, Marcia Lane Purcell and husband, John of New York, New York; June Henderson Burkheiser,  Gloria Jean Knight LeBlanc and Paula Randolph Kilchrist; nephews, Michael Randolph, Randy West and wife, Lex of Baton Rouge and Glen Stokes and wife, Yvonne of New Iberia, Virgil Stokes of Stockholm Sweden,  C.C. Henderson, Jr, Robert Henderson, Richard Henderson and Bryan Henderson; brother-in-law, Cliff Henderson and wife, Mary of Lafayette; cousin, L.D. Young of Beaumont, Tx and many great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Randolph of Forest Hill, Louisiana     A native of Rapides Parish and a resident of Lafayette for 73 years, Mrs. Henderson graduated Forest Hill High School.     Mrs. Henderson owned two farms in Avoyelles Parish, two in Rapides Parish, one in Vernon Parish and three in Lafayette Parish where she did nursery work, landscaping work, tree surgery, dairy farming, and sugar cane, sweet potato, soy bean, wheat and peach farming.  She raised Simmental cattle, Charolais cattle, hogs, laying hens, honey bees, alligators and had an exotic animal ranch.      During her lifetime, Mrs. Henderson owned a cheese factory, a black-top plant in Houston, TX, a trailer park, a seafood restaurant, a barbecue restaurant, a pizza restaurant and built a smokehouse where he smoked hams, bacon, chickens, turkeys and sausage.  She was the original owner of Gator Cove now operated by her grandson and his wife and was part owner of Sarah Dee Park Subdivision where she took on some house building.     She owned and operated a sand-dredging business, woodwork and cabinet shop, a sandblasting business, fabrication works, and a heavy equipment rental business.  Mrs. Henderson also undertook an oil-drilling business in Many, Louisiana.      Mrs. Henderson at one time owned stock in the Holiday Inn South and the Holiday Inn North.               She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to all who knew her.  Her true passion was fishing and hunting.     The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Martin & Castille Funeral Home and Thursday at First Baptist Church of Lafayette from 11:00 AM until time of services.     Pallbearers are Clayton (Jay) Voorhies, Larry Sikes, Randy West, Butch Henderson, Cliff O''Neal, Glenn Stokes, Michael Randolph and Donald Smith.  Honorary pallbearers are Clayton Voorhies, III, Christien M. Hunt, Spencer Overton Fox Hunt, Bobby LeJeune, Gerald Hanchey, Dr. William Bernard and all church members.Martin & Castille-Lafayette, 234.2311
