The Life of James Henry Morton Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2008 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for James Henry Morton, Sr., 77, who passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Reverend Steve Horn, Pastor of First Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services.

Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Morton, a native of Fairfax, Oklahoma and a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Issac Morton and the former Hazel Cain. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served as a Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Petro-Log as a Mud Engineer after 17 years of service. He was a graduate of McNeese University with a degree in Pre Veterinarian Science. Mr. Morton was named after his grandfather. James was a member of Lafayette Photography Club and really enjoyed taking pictures at Downtown Alive. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and a lifelong Republican.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Elaine Morton of Lafayette; one son, James H. Morton, Jr. of Lafayette; one grandchild, Ashley Lane Hebert and wife, Andrea of LaPlace; and one nephew, Noah Watson of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dianne N. Morton; and one sister, Suzanne Seales.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue Thursday from 8:00 am until time of service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mike Mounir for his care during the last several years.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, will be in charge of the arrangements.
