The Life of Alphosine Martin

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 13, 2006 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Alphosine Martin, 96, who passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Jody J. Simoneaux, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Julie Broussard, soloist, accompanied by Phyllis Simar, organist, will perform for the services, "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria", "How Great Thou Art", "Here I Am Lord", and "Be Not Afraid"Survivors include, two brothers, A.J. Domingue and Curtis Domingue and his wife, Berlina both of Lafayette; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and great great great nieces and nephewsShe was preceded in death by her parents, John Domingue and Amelia Bourgot Domingue; three brothers, Ceasar Domingue, Joseph Domingue, and Gladi Domingue; and three sisters, Varina Benoit, Edesse Broussard and Maude Aucoin.A native of Rayne, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for all of her life, Miss Martin was a loving sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She was a dedicated and loyal employee for Abdallas Department Store where she was an expert seamstress for over 40 years. Miss Martin was known for her fine cooking by friends near and far. She was a member of the St. Genevieve Catholic Church Community, the St. Genevieve Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, and the Pokeno Club, where she loved to play cards. She will be missed dearly by family and friends.Pallbearers will be Curtis Domingue, Chris Duplechin, Kody Dodge, Tommy Broussard, Ricky Broussard, Marc Garcia and Keith Patin. Honorary pallbearers will be A.J. Domingue and Jerry Broussard.A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, from 8:00 AM until time of funeral services.The family would like to give thanks to her sitter, Martha Venable, for all of the care and support given to Miss Martin during her time of need, the nurses and staff at Lafayette General Medical Center for their care and compassion.
