The Life of Edward Earnest Doucet

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 3, 2006 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church for Edward Ernest Doucet, age 97, who died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.Interment will be in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery Mausoleum.Reverend Robie Robichaux, JCL, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Con Celebrant will be Reverend Michael Champagne. Jodi Bollich, soloist, accompanied by Deborah Duhon, organist, will sing for the services, "Auciel", "Amazing Grace" "How Great Thou Art" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee".Survivors include one daughter, Linda Viale and her husband, Tony; three sons, John Allen Doucet, Sr.; Carol J. Doucet and his wife Eldine and Jude Thad Doucet all of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, John A. "Butch" Doucet, Jr., Irving F. Doucet, Glen P. Doucet, Catherine M. Smith, Patricia L. Brossette, Michelle T. Doucet, Robert F. Doucet, Toni E. Viale, and Ryan P. Prejean; and seven great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Smalley Doucet; his parents, Valsin Doucet and Marie E. Boudreaux Doucet; four brothers, Didier Doucet, Clovis Doucet, Gerassin Doucet and Joseph Andre Doucet; six sisters, Lucille Knight, Cecile Edith Ducharme, Gabrielle Aurore Raggio, Orta Doucet, Hortense Cormier and Amy Simon; one half sister, Carmelite Judice.A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana Mr. Doucet was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of the St. Mary''s Catholic Church Community and also the Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.Pallbearers will be John A. "Butch" Doucet, Jr., Irving F. Doucet, Robert Doucet, Chris Smith, James Smalley, and John T. Landry. Honorary pallbearers will be John A. Doucet, Sr., Carol J. Doucet, Jude T. Doucet and Antonio Viale.A Rosary will be prayed Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visiting hours be observed Thursday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM until time of services.Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette has been chosen to help with the arrangements.337-234-2311.
