The Life of Elizabeth Ann Goudeau

Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 12:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Elizabeth "Betty" Hickey Goudeau, of Lafayette, born December 23, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas, who passed away peacefully at the age of 79 in her home surrounded by family and friends on Monday, November 30, 2009.

Deacon Mike Clark of Holy Cross Church will conduct the memorial service.

Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty was a loving mother and grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. A life-long resident of Lafayette, she was devoted to the education of children for 42 years. As a Master''s educated retired school teacher, she was an involved member of the Retired Teachers Association of Lafayette and a long-time member of the ADK Sorority. Betty belived that one person could make a difference and was a volunteer with the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for many years and the secretary of the Louisiana Republicans Women''s Association. She was an intelligent, giving person who enjoyed the challenge of keeping up with the times. She never met a stranger and could always engage one in an interesting knowlegeable conversation. As an active person, she was also a member of The "Betty" Club and participated in a Brigde Club. She enjoyed traveling and new adventures. Her sweet presence will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her two children, Brian Goudeau and Christopher Goudeau and his wife Tammy of Lafayette; her grandchildren, Christopher Goudeau, Jr. and Chelsea Goudeau of Lafayette; her niece, Michelle Hearn of Alabama; and her best friend and companion Howard Cornay and her many life-long friends of Lafayette, LA.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Hickey; father, Joseph James Hickey and brother, Joseph James Hickey, Jr.

The family request that the visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette from 10:00 am until the time of service.

There will be a reception following the service in the Delhomme Reception Center from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
