The Life of Bennie Edward Acker Sr.

Grand Coteau - Funeral services for Mr. Bennie Edward Acker, age 74, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at World Harvest Lighthouse, 125 East Butcher Switch Rd, Lafayette, La.; with interment in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery, Lafayette, La. Rev. Morris “J R” Jeffery will conduct the service. Bennie was a native of Leaksville, MS. and was a long-time resident of Sunset, La. He died on Friday, August 13, 2010, at his residence. Bennie was the owner of Acker Asphalt Service in Sunset and enjoyed working with people and helping people. Bennie enjoyed spending time with his family; he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and is going to be sadly missed by all that knew him. Bennie loved going to Church and being with all the family of God. Survivors include his wife; Della R. Acker, Sunset; sons; Bennie Acker, Jr. and wife Connie Sue, San Antonio, TX., Bill Roger Acker and wife Toddy, Sunset, Johnnie Joseph Acker and wife Mona, Sunset; daughters; Brenda Sue Young and husband Ike, Spiro, OK., Beverly Joles, Sunset, Carrie Harrison and husband Jack, Sunset, Linda Erma Granger and husband Pat, Sunset, Famie T. Pearce and husband Jimmy Joe, Breaux Bridge, Rebecca Jo Benoit and husband Steve, Arnaudville, Tillie Kelly Westbrook and husband Thomas, Sunset, Melissa Lynn Boudreaux and husband Robert, Sunset; 37 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by parents; Johnnie and Tillie Kelly Acker; brother, Clifton Acker. Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau on Sunday, August 15, 2010, from 9 a.m. all night Sunday and Monday; on Tuesday, visitation will continue at World Harvest Lighthouse from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau.
