The Life of Iona Marie Bourg
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Iona Marie Bourg, 95, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Courtyard Manor in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.
Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Duson, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Deacon Gerald J. Bourg, her nephew, will be the homilist. Lectors will be Gay Bourg and Kathy Langlinais. Karen Minor and Christine Minor, will sing for the services.
Iona was a native of Baldwin and a resident of Lafayette. She is survived by her nieces, Faye Bourg Latiolais and Ann Morris Guidry; her nephews, Gerald Bourg and Larry Bourg; and several great nieces, great nephews and godchildren. Iona was preceded in death by her parents, Gerson Paul and Helen Boudreau Bourg; one brother, Ira J. Bourg; one sister, Irene B. Morris; and one nephew, Malcolm J. Bourg.
Iona will be dearly missed by her family and friends, who will always remember her for her generous and loving spirit. She gave of her self unselfishly and was a true example of God's love.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 11:00 AM until time of service, with a Rosary recited at 12:30 PM.
