The Life of Lena Hanks

Funeral Services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church for Lena Hanks, who passed away on Friday, September 26, 2008 at Magnolia Estates in Lafayette. Father Michael Delcambre will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette. Ms. Hanks, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Armand Romero and the former Marie Alice Robin. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a nurse for 41 years at the Lafayette Sanitarium and Lafayette General Hospital. She is survived by two daughters, Alice H. Paladin of Mexico, Mo. and Nancy H. Venz of Lake City, Fl.; one son, Carl Hanks, Sr. of Livingston, Tx.; seven grand children, Nicolas Paladin, Susan P. Petersen, Kathy V. Curtis, Greg Venz, Julie Hanks, Elizabeth Dunbar and Carl Hanks, Jr.; eight great-grandchildren, Simon Peterson, Lucas Petersen, Sabrina Curtis, Emma Curtis, Julia Curtis, Clara Hanks, Alex Paladin and Katy Paladin; two brothers Nelson Romero and A.J. Romero. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Mr. Odelle Hanks and ten of her brothers and sisters The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Monday from 8:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm in the funeral home on Sunday Evening. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of Acadiana 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200 Lafayette, La 70503.
