The Life of Anna May Duhon

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Anna Mae Duhon, age 78, the former Anna Mae Bower, who died Monday, November 7, 2005 at 12:15 AM in Lafayette General Medical Center. Entombment will be in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery Mausoleum. The Very Reverend Monsignor J. Douglas Courville, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Jodi Bollich, organist, will sing for the Funeral Mass, "On Eagles'' Wings", "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace" and "Be Not Afraid". Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Valliet "Fritz" Duhon, who passed away in 1975; her parents, Thomas and Artemise Breaux Bower; two brothers, Edgar Bower and Edward Bower; five sisters, Elodie B. Owen, Emily Guinn, Amelia Racca, Phil Broussard and Bertha Robert; four half brothers, Albert Bower, Raoul Bower, Fernand Bower and Gustave Bower and three half sisters, Edmondia S. Clement, Anita B. Hollier and Ida B. Granger. Mrs. Duhon was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. Anna Mae "Miss Fritz", as she was called, was best known for owning and operating Fritz''s Lounge for many years. She had enjoyed many hobbies which consisted of arts & crafts and crocheting. Miss Fritz also had a great love for the outdoors, such as fishing and crabbing. Her greatest pride was maintaining her plants and vegetables in the garden. A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of the Funeral Mass. Pallbearers are Joey Lagneaux, Albert Granger, Jr., Brian Guidry, Johnny Bower, Jerry Bower and Kevin Baudoin. Honorary pallbearers are Luke Robert, Joseph Broussard, Sr., Dallas Bower, Gerald Bower, Joseph Broussard, Jr., Keith Bower ,Troy Gardiner, Corey Gardiner and Scott Guidry. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Duhon''s name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503. The family would like to express their appreciation to the eighth floor staff of Lafayette General Medical Center for the wonderful care extended to Mrs. Duhon.
