The Life of Gloria Gail Champagne

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at a 12:00 PM Mass at Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Gloria Gail Domingue Champagne, 79, who passed away peacefully on Monday, October 1, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center.Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.Reverend Louis Richard, Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Barry Champagne, soloist, accompanied by Jodi Bollich, organist and Lauren Baker, violinist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "Be Not Afraid", "The Lord's Prayer", and "You Raise Me Up".Survivors include three daughters, Libby Banquer and her husband, Mark, Pattie Menard and her husband, Robert, and Sondra Carr and her husband, Russell; four sons, Paul Champagne and his wife, Audrey, Dr. Kenneth Champagne and his wife, Yvette, Wayne Champagne and his wife, Debbie, and Barry Champagne and his wife, Sharle; twenty grandchildren, Kara Champagne, Aaron Champagne, Lucas Banquer, 1st Lieutenant Jason Banquer USAF, Alaina Banquer, Donavan Domingue, Jeremy Domingue, Jesse Domingue, Angelique Domingue, Bradley Champagne, Christopher Champagne, Amanda Champagne, Benjamin Champagne, Samantha Carr, Alexandra Carr, Jonathan Champagne, Brendan Champagne, Trevor Champagne, Kameron Champagne, and Alycia Champagne; four great grandchildren Jade Domingue, Hayleigh Domingue, Ethan Dent and Mackenzie Boudreaux.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Laban Paul Champagne, Sr.; her mother Nona Nolia Meaux; and one great grandson Joshua Domingue.A Native of Abbeville, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for most of her life, Mrs. Champagne was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Mrs. Champagne enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom she adored. For many years Mrs. Champagne devoted her life to caring for others in their time of need. She took special care of everyone she came in contact with, and those who had the privledge of knowing her were truly blessed. She will be dearly missed not only by family and friends but by all of those whose lives she has touched throughout the years.Pallbearers will be Aaron Champagne, Lucas Banquer, 1st Lieutenant Jason Banquer USAF, Donavan Domingue, Jeremy Domingue, Jesse Domingue, Christopher Champagne, and Brendan Champagne. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bradley Champagne, Benjamin Champagne, Trevor Champagne, Jonathan Champagne, and Kameron Champagne.A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of services.The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their kindness, compassion, and gentle care given to Mrs. Champagne during her time of need.Donations may be made in Mrs. Champagne?s name to Hospice of Acadiana 2600 Johnston Street Suite 200 Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.
