The Life of Rosalie Chambers

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 18, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Rosalie Chambers, 98, who passed away on August 13, 2011 at 10:09 pm at Kingsley Place at Lafayette. Deacon Timothy Maragos will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Chambers was the daughter of the late Salvatore Pizzalatto and the former Josephine Grado both of Sicily, Italy. Born on July 29, 1913 in Eunice, LA, she was a long-time resident of Lafayette. She retired from Sears and Roebuck, where she worked for over 20 years. She leaves her family and friends many cherished memories. She is survived by two sons, Joseph Ray Chambers and his wife Josephine of Yorktown, VA and Gary Paul Chambers and wife Genevieve of Lafayette, LA; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one sister, Rita Nicholson of Crowley, LA and one brother, Anthony Pizzolatto of Houma, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Dewey Clarence Chambers; five sisters, Mary Belanger, Sarah Baker, Virginia Alesi, Dorothy Partanna and Lucille Kober and four brothers, Leonard Pizzolatto, Joe Pizzolatto and Nicholas Pizzalatto. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening. Visitation will continue on Thursday at 8:00 am until the time of service.  Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
