The Life of Mr. Sidney Credeur

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Sidney Credeur, 91, who passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2010 at his residence in Duson. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Bonnie Miller, Kim Roy and Dodie Domingue. Lectors will be Rhonda Credeur and Michelle Credeur. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria", "On Eagles'' Wings", "Isaiah 49", "J''irai la voir un jour" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic" for the services. Survivors include two daughters, Renella C. Menard and Marlene Credeur; three sons, Allen Credeur and his wife Anne, Keith Credeur and his wife Skila and Terry Credeur and his wife Rhonda; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Edesse Credeur; parents, Oleus and Edmaze Credeur; two brothers, Voorhies Credeur and Woodley Credeur; one sister, Bernice Falcon; and one son-in-law, Alfred Menard. A lifelong resident of Duson, Sidney Credeur was a happy, fun loving man who loved to joke. Sidney Credeur loved hunting and traveling and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from the State in 1979 after thirty years. As much as he loved to play and joke, he worked very hard up until the final months of his life. After the passing of his beloved wife of sixty-eight years in 2007, he lived alone for two years, tending to his lawn and driving around. He spent the last months of his life in and out of hospitals and at home with sitters. Pallbearers will be Todd Menard, Kevin Credeur, Kory Credeur, Blaine Judice, Jeremy Credeur and Jacoby Credeur.The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s Downtown Lafayette location Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed by Chuck Ortego on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
