The Life of Esther Louise Dupre

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2007, at a 10:00 AM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Esther Louise Dupre, 85, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at River Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette.Interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Park. The Very Reverend Monsignor J. Douglas Courville, JCL, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, Lafayette will officiate the Funeral Services.Survivors include five daughters Judy Landry and husband, Larry Sr. of Abbeville, Jane Brasseaux and husband Lennard of Youngsville, Becky Jacques and husband Melvin of Lafayette, Pam Sisk and husband Charlie of Breaux Bridge, Karen Metcalf and husband Tim of Lafayette; five sons Harry Dupre, Jr. and wife Janet of Big Bear, California, Ernest Dupre and wife Fayetta of Youngsville, Riley Dupre and wife Terri of Lafayette, Ricky Dupre and wife Marlene of Carencro, Tim Dupre of Lafayette; one brother Robert May of Franklin; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. Dupre, Sr.; her parents Robert Cocke May, Sr. and Annette Marie Pontiff May; four brothers William, Taylor, John and Riley; and three sisters Irene, Edith and Rita. A native of Franklin, and a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for most of her life, Ms. Dupre was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and sister. She was an active volunteer with the Disabled American Veterans for over thirty years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her tips and tricks with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Esther was also well known for riding her bicycle all over Lafayette in her younger days, often riding as far as the North Gate Mall shopping for her children and grandchildren. She was loved by many friends and will be sorely missed by all who knew and shared with her life.A Rosary will be prayed on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday, May 25, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM and on Saturday, May 26, 2007 from 8:00 AM until time of services at Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The Dupre family would like to give special thanks to River Oaks Nursing Home for their compassionate care they gave Mrs. Esther and a special thanks the staff on hall C.
