The Life of Evelyn Bourgeois

View Memorial Tribute Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Evelyn Courquet Bourgeois, 89, who passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2008 at Magnolia Estates in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The Very Reverend Monsignor Russell J. Harrington, VE, Pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Mire, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Gift bearers will be Katie Beth Mason, Amy Bourgeois and Jori Bercier. Musical selections will be, "Ave Maria", "Psalm 23", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman" and "My Shepherd Is The Lord". Survivors include three daughters, Genevieve Bourgeois of Lafayette, Eleanor Bourgeois of Rayne and Catherine Bourgeois Mason of New Orleans; three sons Dr. Anthony E. Bourgeois, Jr. of College Station, TX., James F. Bourgeois and his wife, Christine of Lafayette and Charles O. Bourgeois of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Jolie Bourgeois Pearson, Tad Bourgeois, Lenore Villadiego Bercier, Katie-Beth Mason, Alicia Bourgeois and Amy Bourgeois; ten great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Ann Henderson, Mary Alice Courquet and Florence Russell all of Lafayette and Virginia Bryan of Houston; and three brothers George Courquet of Lafayette, Frank Courquet of Mobile, AL. and Paul Courquet of Hessmer, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Emile Bourgeois, Sr.; and her parents, Ulysse Joseph Courquet and Alice Thomassee Courquet.A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette Parish, Mrs. Bourgeois was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was a dedicated employee of Abdalla''s in Lafayette where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement. Mrs. Bourgeois was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church Community. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, reading and cooking, but her passion in life was spending time with her family, whom she adored. She will be dearly missed not only by family and friends, but by all of those who knew and loved her.Pallbearers will be Dr. Anthony E. Bourgeois, Jr., James F. Bourgeois, Charles O. Bourgeois, Anthony E. "Tad" Bourgeois III, Edwin L. Bercier IV, and Robert K. Henderson. A Rosary will be prayed by Edwin Bercier, IV, on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
