The Life of Fern Margaret Cox

Funeral services will be held at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, April 30, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mrs. Ronald Wayne Cox, 80, the former Fern Margaret Belaire. Rev. Howard Blessing, pastor, St. Catherine Church, Leonville will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in the Holy Mary Mother of God Mausoleum. Mrs. Cox was a native of Lake Charles, LA, the daughter of the late Jake Belaire and the former Ollie Kincaid and had been a resident of Lafayette since 1964. Before her retirement in 1995 she worked in Lake Charles as a Secretary for Union Texas Petroleum. After moving to Lafayette, Fern was instrumental in the formation of the Acadian Log Library. She worked part time at the information desk at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center until 1995. She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Community. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Wayne Cox; one daughter, Kelly Cox Wilkins and her husband Stephen of Mobile, Alabama; Two sons, Michael Lewis Huggins and his wife Desiree of Lafayette and Robert Wayne Cox and his wife Mary Lynne of Lafayette; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Verde Stoker of Lake Charles; and one brother, R.J. Belaire of Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Tommy Stoker, Bryan Wilkins, Michael Wilkins, Keith Belaire, Darren Belaire, Rob Huggins. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Cox II, Mike Alesi, Dr. Ed Lyons, and Perry Holleman. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Monday. Donations in Mrs. Cox’s memory may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School Building Fund. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, are funeral directors in charge of the arrangements.
