The Life of Darrell James Balfa

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 10:30 AM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Darrell James Balfa, 41, who died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at his residence. Deacon Mike Clark of Holy Cross Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Musical selections will be performed by soloist, Hope Balfa, Darrell’s niece. Interment will take place in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery. Mr. Balfa, a native of Lafayette, was the son of Wedney Joseph Balfa and the former De Ella Arabie. He enjoyed cooking, competing in cook-off competitions and always placed in most. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved, especially Makaya. He was a special person who would help anyone in need and will truly be missed by all who knew him. He was an avid Saints fan who enjoyed cooking on game day for all of his friends to enjoy. Survivors include his mother, Momma Dee Balfa of Lafayette; daughter, Makaya Pellerin of Scott, sister, Amy Balfa of Scott; and brothers, Warner Joseph Balfa and Jeffery James Balfa both of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents, Charles and Amy Balfa and maternal grandparents, Andrus and Gertie Arabie. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm and continue Wednesday from 8:00 am to time of services A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home. Pallbearers will include Jeffery James Balfa, Kevin Domingue, Kevin Wimberly, Joey Winn, Towaska Chiasson, Jeremy Chiasson, Clifton Arabie and Justin Romero. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
