The Life of Roderick Jules Deshotels

Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, January 22, 2007 at 1:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Roderick Jules Deshotels, 70, who passed away Friday, January 19, 2007 at his residence. Reverend Monsignor Robert Angelle will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery. Mr. Deshotels, a native Lafayette, was the son of the late Armand Clyston Deshotels of Scott and the former Bernadette Connolly of Carencro. Mr. Deshotels graduated from Cathedral Carmel where he was a member of the boxing team. He was a graduate of S.L.I. He was the founder of the Golden Gloves local organization. During his years in the United States Army, he became a United States Champion. Survivors include his wife, Connie Deshotels; two daughters, Tyla Hager and husband, Nathan and Roberta Sosa; two sons, Dirk Deshotels and Shane Deshotels and wife, Monique; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia Moore and husband, Stanley and Cecile Arceneaux and husband, James; and one brother, Donald Deshotels and wife, Essie. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John Allen Deshotels, A.C. Deshotels and Russell Deshotels; three sisters, Gloria Hensgens, Della Connolly and Marlene Woody; and one son, Steven Deshotels. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday from 11:00 am until time of service. Pallbearers will be Shane Deshotels, Dirk Deshotels, Brent Deshotels, David Deshotels, Clark Moore, Frederick Deshotels, Paul Wayne Connolly and Anthony Hensgens. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
