The Life of Michael John Barry

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Michael John Barry, 66, who passed away on June 22, 2009 at 6:35 pm at his residence. Reverend Jan Holloway and Reverend Fred Frasier of First United Methodist Church will conduct the funeral services. Mr. Barry, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late C. W. “Tex” Barry, Sr., of Lafayette, Louisiana and the former Anita Philbin of New Orleans, Louisiana. Michael was employed by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana State Trooper’s for four years. He worked as an Indigent Defenders Coordinator with the Fifteenth Judicial District for sixteen years and was the owner of Computer Consulting, Inc. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diana Skaggs Barry; two daughters, Rebecca A. Barry and Rachel S. Barry and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, C.W. "Buzzy" Barry, Jr. The family would like to thank Doctors DeAlvare and Malek, the staff of Heart of Hospice and the fifth floor staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 9:00 am until time of service at 3:00 pm at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. Burial will be at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Mr. Barry to Heart of Hospice, 201 West Vermilion St., Lafayette, LA 70501; www.heartofhospice.net. Pallbearers will be Brady Barry, Patrick Barry, Tommy Goulas, Mike Ayers, Ronnie Crochet and Brian Diez. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitchell Barry and Larry Maxwell.
