The Life of Yvette Broussard

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Yvette Malaise Broussard, 85, who passed away Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Deacon Cody Miller of St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Musical selections will be provided by Accompanist Becky Chelette and Soloists David Chelette and Jan George. Mrs. Broussard, a native of Monteigne-Sur-Sambre, Belgium and a Lafayette resident for the past 60 years, was the daughter of the late Oscar Malaise of Bungie, France and the former Marthe’ Frison of Charleroi, Belgium. Mrs. Broussard went to grade school in Monteigne-Sur-Sambre and Havre’-ville, Belgium. She graduated from the University of Mons where she received her nursing degree. While she was working her shift at the hospital in Mons during World War II, she met PFC Benjamin Miller who spoke French fluently. They were married on August 15, 1946. Later in life she married Didier Broussard of Marrero, Louisana. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia M. Broussard of Milton and Juanita Fox of Lafayette; one son, James Miller and wife, Dorothy of Milton; five grandchildren, Marcus P. Broussard, Scottie L. Broussard and wife, Candace, Traci F. Primm and husband, Mason, Jamie L. Fox and Ginger Miller and husband, Blake; and three great grandchildren, Logan P. Broussard, Tristin J. Broussard and Madelyn Broussard. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Benjamin Miller; second husband, Didier Broussard; and son-in-law, Kenneth P. Broussard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be James Miller, Marcus P. Broussard, Scottie L. Broussard, Mason Primm, E. Ralph Formby and Charles D. Fox.
