The Life of Edwin Curtis Blakeney
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Lafayette for Edwin C. Blakeney, 85, who passed away on May 17, 2009 at 9:34AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Pastor Steve Horn and Pastor Emeritus Brother Perry Sanders of First Baptist Church of Lafayette will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Blakeney, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Buey Blakeney of Taylorsville, Mississippi and the former Addie Shelby of Taylorsville, Mississippi. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bettye Jo, two sons, James Blakeney and wife Debbie of Lafayette and Jeffrey Blakeney and wife Melanie of Memphis, TN, two sisters, Betty Stringer of Mobile, AL and Montez Cain of Kilgore, TX, one brother, Don Blakeney of Mobile, AL, two grandchildren, Michael Blakeney of Anchorage, AK and Jennifer Blakeney of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Myrtis Kirkland, one brother, Shelby Blakeney.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette.
Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Edwin Blakeney to First Baptist Church of Lafayette- Youth and Children’s Facility or your charity of choice.
