The Life of Huey Paul Bertrand
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 11:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Huey Paul Bertrand, 71, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Deacon Timothy A. Maragos, of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagles' Wings" for the services.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Martha S. Bertrand; one daughter, Linda LeBlanc and her husband Tim; two sons, Randall Bertrand and his fiancé, Ginny Halman and Conrad Bertrand and his wife Tammy; six grandchildren, April McBride, Cody LeBlanc, Paige Bertrand, Payton Bertrand, Sandy Bertrand and Mindy Bertrand; two great grandchildren, Gavin McBride and Hayden LeBlanc; three sisters, Beatrice Johnson, Anna Lee Abshire and Vergie Crosdy; and three brothers, Delton Bertrand, L.C. Bertrand and Larry Bertrand.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ducrossel and Azema Bertrand; one son-in-law, Russell James Guidry; and two brothers, Clifton Bertrand and Joseph Bertrand. A longtime resident of Lafayette, Huey Bertrand was a member of the United States National Guard. He worked for Cooper Cameron Ironworks for thirty years (1975-2003) and volunteered as a firefighter.
Mr. Bertrand will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Pallbearers will be Delton Bertrand, L.C. Bertrand, David McBride, Cody LeBlanc, George Seaux and Shane Seaux.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's Downtown Lafayette location on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
